Random Photos and Video

I'm having a little hard time trying to keep up with this blog but here are some random photos and a video from his first couple of weeks. I am hoping to post more soon since we've had some exciting events (i.e. meeting Grandpa Steve and Aunt Sammie, getting a belly) and we will be meeting Grandma Susie this week. I hope you enjoy.

There isn't a lot of exciting video to be taken with a newborn. Most of our video is of Teddy sleeping or crying with either Lisette or me providing commentary. Here is some of Lisette's fine narration work.

Below are some pictures from his first sponge bath. I was going to post some video but there were a little too many pee-pee shots. I do not want to embarrass the little guy too much.

"If this is what it takes to stay clean, then keep me dirty!"

"Okay Mom, this isn't so bad, I guess."

"Okay, that's it, I've had enough fun. Put some clothes on me, woman!"

A little while after the bath and a lot more peaceful. I like to call this the Mr. Hanky the Christmas Poo/peanut look.

"Another satisfied feeding, my compliments to the chef."

Setting a place for Teddy at the table. He has his pumped breast milk right in front of him. So far, he is not much of a conversationalist at the dinner table.

Some pictures from our first venture outside of the house with Teddy since getting home from the hospital. We didn't go but 30 feet before we started wondering if he was too cold and it caused him to start sneezing. He was plenty warm.

Teddy's Brit Milah (Bris)

Mr. Teddy had his Brih Milah (Bris) on January 5th, 2009 around 5 pm EST. Jewish tradition states that the bris is to happen 8 days after his birthday but not on Sabbath (Friday). A bris is the Jewish covenant of circumcision. Everything went well and his little pee-pee has healed up nicely. In addition to his circumcision, Teddy was also given his Jewish name יִצְחָק (Yitschaq) Isaac which was Lisette’s Grandpa Fischer’s Hebrew name. Yitschaq in Hebrew translates into Isaac. In addition, a quick Wikipedia search shows that the name Yitschaq/Isaac translates into “may God smile.” Below are some pictures (and some videos for the not so faint of heart) from the big event.

Getting ready for the big event.

"Awww Mom!!!"

"Really?"

Meeting Uncle Jamie.

Before the big event.

Teddy's first exposure to alcohol. Grandpa Bud putting a cloth soaked in wine to help him with the pain. You can't see it because of the cloth covering Teddy but they had to strap him in before Dr. Goodman, the moyel, did the procedure (understandably).

Video from the ceremony (not graphic).
More video (a little graphic).

and even more video (more graphic).
After the snip snip. I think Mommy is having a harder time than Teddy.

Almost done. Once again, it appears that the parents are needing some help to get through the ceremony. In all seriousness, it was a very moving ceremony for Lisette and me. Probably not so much for Teddy.
Teddy meeting cousin Maggie for the first time. The static electricity was pretty strong at Grandma Judy and Grandpa Bud's house.

Meeting Family and Friends

Here are some pictures of Teddy meeting family and friends.

Cousin Caroline and Grandma Judy.

Cousin Jack. Jack's quote: "He (Teddy) is little and doesn't do a lot"

Aunt Miriam with Teddy wearing Mo $ bib. Mo $ was one of the leading names for the unborn Teddy.

Violet and Teddy. COUSINS!!!

An awake cousin Violet meets Teddy with Aunt Jenn and Uncle Hal.

Teddy with another pretty girl, Jennifer! Teddy had a busy day.

Some Football

Go Hawkeyes!! 2010 Orange Bowl Champions! I thought I would post some statistics from the game:

  • Iowa 24 Georgia Tech 14

  • Iowa holds powerful Georgia Tech offense to 155 yards

  • Number of times Teddy was frightened by his Dad acting like an idiot: 1 (after first Iowa touchdown)
I tried to use Teddy to predict the winner of the game. I set one side of a couch with a bunch of Iowa stuff and the other side with all of the Georgia Tech stuff we had (one outfit that Uncle Hal and Aunt Jenn gave us). Below are the results:

First try, Teddy is facing the Georgia Tech side. GT: 1, Iowa: 0

Second try, we sit him up and we add an Iowa bib that Aunt Shelley sent to Teddy. Teddy faces the Iowa side. GT: 1, Iowa: 1

The rubber choice. Grandpa Bud adds a Georgia Tech hat. It appears that Teddy chooses Georgia Tech. GT: 2, Iowa: 1. So unofficially, it appears that Teddy thought Georgia Tech was going to win. However, under further analysis, there are some other factors that may have thrown him off. We have Mom on the Georgia Tech side and he also may have been nervous about what was going to happen to him. Teddy was scheduled to have his Brit milah, the Jewish covenant of circumcision (snip snip) about an hour after this picture was taken. Either way, Teddy's bris went well and he was wrong about the game. Go Hawkeyes! Maybe this will end his gambling before it has a chance to start.

Another interesting Orange Bowl related picture. This is cousin Violet with a Hawkeye blanket by her. This is interesting because Violet's parents are big Georgia Tech fans. Maybe Violet knew something that Teddy didn't!

Another football picture. Even though the Chicago Bears suffered through another mediocre season, we still decided to don Teddy with this cute outfit that my side of the family gave to him. It is notable that the Bears did win the last two games of the season including beating the Minnesota Vikings on the night Teddy was born.

Home from the Hospital

Welcome home!

Happy Family.

Such a sweet angel but ...

what happens when he wakes up?!?!

Finally posting again

Hi all,

I am finally getting around to doing some posting on this blog. It turns out that these baby things are quite time consuming :) I have followed my brother-in-law Matt's blog (Finley and Harper's fan page http://weinsteinblog.blogspot.com/) for almost two years now. He does a good job with both his writing and posting pictures. However, I have never been complimented on my writing ability and do not wax poetic very well. In light of this and the saying that a pictures is worth a thousand word, most of my posts will just be pictures. So here goes. I hope you enjoy!

"Hmmmm??"

"Does Daddy know how to change a diaper?"

Teddy with Grandma Judy.

Teddy with Grandpa Bud (Hal).

Teddy with Uncle Hal.

Maybe we took the Teddy Bear thing too seriously. He is quite the furry little guy.
